Last Friday, Brigadier Bojan Pograjc, Secretary General of IFMS, attended
final festivities and the awards giving ceremony in conclusion of the CaSTA
(Campionato shiistico delle Truppe Alpine) competition. On this occasion he
also conferred the IFMS Cup on the best team among the athletes from 10
different countries.
The competition dates back to 1931, when the Alpini Command of Bolzano
organized the Alpini National Competition from 6 to 10 March 1931 on Passo
Tonale. In 1979, for the first time in its history the event also included
international participants.
Prior to festivities, Brigadier Pograjc met with members of the Slovenian
Armed Forces who participated in the competition. Slovenian team finished in
the excellent fifth position. Their achievement is even more important as
the winning teams included athletes - members of Italian Alpini units who
compete in the World Cup and at the Olympics.
Brigadier Pograjc also had a meeting with General Primaceri, Commander of
the Alpini, and General Tarricone, Commander of 2nd Army Defence Forces
