Visit to the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division

From 1 to 3 July 2010, the New York State hosted a reunion of the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division of the US Army at Fort Drum, Watertown. The event was attended by IFMS Secretary General, Brigadier Bojan Pograjc, IFMS Secretary, Lieutenant Colonel Boštjan Blaznik, and President of the Slovenian Organisation of Mountain Soldiers, (Retired) Brigadier Janez Kavar.

On the occasion of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 10th Mountain Division reactivation, the delegation met with Division Commander, Major General James Terry. Official talks focused on strengthened and concrete forms of Division's cooperation within IFMS. Participants of the reunion also honoured the fallen and deceased members of the 10th Mountain Division and took part in the "Salute to the Nation" ceremony.

For this event, the Military Museum of the Slovenian Armed Forces prepared an exhibition on a ski competition of the Division on the slopes of the Mount Mangart in 1945 and on this year's IFMS Congress in Slovenia. As a matter of particular interest and pure coincidence it should be mentioned that the reunion was attended by a retired member of the unit who participated in the 1945 competition as a route marker.
