Minister of Defence of Republic of Slovenia Welcomes Mountain Soldiers

On Wednesday, 25 July 2012, the Ministry of Defence hosted a working meeting of delegations of the International Federation of Mountain Soldiers (IFMS) and the Slovenian Organisation of Mountain Soldiers with the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia Aleš Hojs and the Deputy Chief of the SAF General Staff Brigadier Andrej Osterman. Minister Hojs was thus directly informed of the past achievements of the two closely-related organisations as well as their future challenges.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to the Secretary General Brigadier Bojan Pograjc at the end of his first term in office for successful management of the IFMS, and also expressed his full support for his candidacy for a second term. Furthermore, he wished President Brigadier (Ret.) Janez Kavar every success in the implementation of the planned activities of the Slovenian Organisation of Mountain Solders, particularly as regards the initiative to build a memorial to the soldiers who were killed in the Slovenian mountains.

At the end of the meeting, President Kavar thanked Minister Hojs for the support and assistance provided to the mountain soldiers by the Ministry of Defence and the Slovenian Armed Forces, inviting him to join the association. The IFMS Secretary General Pograjc presented the Minister a commemorative plaque of the IFMS.
