IFMS Days in Austria 2012

On 26 June 2012, the participants of IFMS-Days from three nations arrived until dinner time.

During dinner at the hotel we had a lot of opportunity for discussions.
On 27 June, we started at 9 o’clock with a sightseeing tour of Innsbruck. We visited the old town, the museum of mountain climbing (Alpenvereinsmuseum) and the biggest bell weighing 15.5 tons in the Grassmayer Bell Foundry.

After having lunch in a nice garden we climbed Bergisel. We visited the sites of the 1809 Independence War in Tyrol, the history museum of Tyrolean Regiment of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (Kaiserjägermuseum) and the modern ski jump.
The historical part of the programme was followed by a dinner at the Stiftskeller in the city.

On 28 June, we started at 9 o’clock and reached the top (2253 m) with the cable car. Then we walked to the top of Hafelekar (2334 m) and Gleirschspitze (2317 m) mountains. We walked down one section of the cable car to the elevation of 1966 m. After a short break, we took the cable car and returned to the hotel to have dinner.

Participants departed Innsbruck the following morning.

During IFMS-Days the weather was good so we could enjoy the scenery of Innsbruck from the north and the south, and the excellent camaraderie.

Many thanks to all participants!
